Week 2! Moises Padilla
This week was the first really "real" week because last week was only half of a week. Anyways, so far we have been really focusing on fellow-shipping the members because Elder Gorospe and I are both new to the area. On Saturdaywe had our Branch President (President Samolde) take around and show us new areas and less active members so we can go and fellowship them and help them to come back to church. On either Wednesday or Thursday I had a miracle. Well, for me it was a miracle and it was. Elder Gorospe and I were visiting Sister Abagun a recent convert. She is older and a Grandma. While visiting her friend/neighbor came by, sister Leti Gargarita who isn't a member, but we were able to teach a lesson with her there and then we did HBT (how to begin teaching) to kind of see what she has questions with for what not. As soon as I started speaking I was speaking true 100% correct ilonggo. It was insane!! After our lesson Elder Gorospe and I just looked at each other and he said your tongue was loosened. That is the first time that really has happened to me to where I had that opportunity to have my tongue be loosened while teaching. All the other times I have taught it has been really hard. I'm trying my best and I know that Heavenly Father blessed me right there to tell me that he's there for me. Learning a new language has to take a lot of patience. That's what I've been learning for my lesson lately as much. Its weirdly not been hot here yet. If anything its like I am in California during the fall. Its kind of ironic. Its cold in the morning and then there is a breeze and the sun is blocked by clouds. I can't wait for it to not be cold though. I need to be able to experience the heat and get used to it, but once summer hits, I'll probably regret saying that. There isn't that much to say besides that and how humbled I become each and every day. Everyone is so imol (poor) here and this last week Sister Royo (recent convert, lives out in the Sugar Cane Fields) , she fed Elder Gorospe and I dinner three times week. I'm just astonished. I feel bad but do not want to offend them, but then again I am so thankful and humbled to see how loving and sacrificing they are. We are definitely treating her to something. I think the main thing here that people struggle with, with keeping the commandments is Smoking, and keeping the Sabbath Day Holy. I hope you all have a wonderful week Family and Friends! Remember why you are here and what blessings you have received in your life. I am so thankful for those blessings and I cannot wait until my tongue is always and fully loosened to where I can speak pure ilonggo all the time to be able to help spread the Gospel of our savior Jesus Christ.
