So this week I was able to start getting to meet some of the members that I could from the Sta. Fe Ward but it was more from just stopping by members houses real quick because of General Conference. We will have a Baptism soon here and I witnessed my first baptism yesterday, and might I just say its something I won't ever forget. If you really want to know why, ask me after my mission. For now, speaking of General Conference, in the Philippines we just had our General Conference because its a week later. Oh how much I loved it is all I have to say, especially Priesthood Session. The words spoken were truly inspired of our Heavenly Father. There is always so much that I want to say...
So in Priesthood Session, President Uchtdorf spoke, then President Eyring and then our Beloved Prophet, Thomas S Monson. All of their messages just combined altogether in my brain and just hit me so hard and is amazing. So something that throughout all of General Conference that really stuck out to me was "Treasures." We have so many treasures in our lives but of those treasures, which ones are really the ones that have meaning and are blessings from our Heavenly Father? President Eyring's talk hit me really hard though. He started off talking about his childhood and talking about growing up as a kid looking up to certain people because they were his heroes. HEROES. That made me really look back to my childhood again especially to when I was a Deacon and the heroes that I really looked up too. Those people who truly are heroes, and no they don't have superpowers. But those Heroes in the Church who are true models for young men, and young woman. These Heroes are in President Eyring's words, "The Model of A True Priesthood Man." In the Church there were so many that I looked up to as Heroes and great examples especially my Father and my Boy Scout Leader Kelly Miller who was like a Grandpa to me. The Model of a true Priesthood Man consists of ONE thing which has Many Things in that ONE thing. They have, the attributes of our Lord, Savior, Redeemer, Great Jehovah, Son of God, Even Jesus Christ. The Definition of this though is Charity (The Pure Love of Christ). As missionaries we read in Preach My Gospel about these Attributes but also as M Russel Ballard said to all members and is commending them if they aren't using it. We as Members all are Missionaries for Jesus Christ to Proclaim his Gospel. This means we all should have a copy of Preach My Gospel and study it and use it. One thing about teaching is also the Restoration which is one of the most important things because it supports the whole truth that this church is. The Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith. Thus, us having the restored keys of the Priesthood, etc. (But not those two keys that were spoken about in General Conference, which are the power to create and resurrect). We as members "Shouldn't sleep through the Restoration." One way of doing this is like what I just said; Missionary Work. And as President Monson said, "If you ever find yourself where you shouldn't ought to be, GET OUT!" That should be a model for all to follow and one way by following this quote to help us get out where we shouldn't be, is serving others (Missionary Work). Lastly what President Monson quoted from I believe was an LDS NBA player; "Be the person who you are in the Dark as you are in the Light."
I love you all and have a great week! There is so much to say from General Conference, but I will sore your brains with only that much to ponder.
